Sailing Around the World – An Out Chasing Stars Presentation

You asked for it, and here it is! This is the presentation we gave at my Grandma’s retirement community in Bellevue, WA on April 30, 2017, covering the first half of our sailing circumnavigation. We cover a lot of topics from how we got started and the basics of Starry Horizons all the way to some of our favorite memories.

This is a real behind the scenes look at Out Chasing Stars! And because I know it’s a LONG video and there may only be a few parts that interest you, here is a Table of Contents with links to each section of the presentation:

0:50 – Start of Presentation
3:37 – Who Are We?

What Was Part 1? (5:02)
5:15 – What Are We Planning?
5:49 – How Did We Get Started?
7:01 – Our Boat (Conceptual)
7:30 – Our Route

Time For Part II (8:00)
8:12 – Our Boat (Details)
14:04 – The Beginning
18:55 – Where We’ve Been
20:50 – Essential Gear Onboard
30:25 – Communications At Sea
32:28 – What Are Passages Like?
34:37 – Life At Anchor
36:09 – Memorable Moments
40:22 – Favorite Pictures
49:02 – Video Highlights
53:19 – Q&A

Hope there is something you find interesting and if you have a question on something we didn’t cover, leave a comment and we’ll do our best to answer.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Great vid. Answered all my questions about you and your boat. Your videography is better than most of the other sailing vloggers I watch llike Delos or La Vaga. Oh and Admiral Amy let your hair down more often both literally and figuratively. Cheers and cruise safe.

  2. Love all your videos…. I'm a geek I power watched all of them. How did guys acquire all your sailing knowledge? That is what seems the most impressive to me. You are both great all the repairs and trouble shooting!

  8. While I'm not sure what type facility this is. I once had the privilege of working in a nursing home where I witnessed many of the variables that are part of life life's journey as seniors. While there were daily activities for the residence who lived where I worked, a presentation like this would have been particularly special. To have young people take the time, the resources, the effort and passion for what they are doing… to bravely travel the world and come back to describe and share the experience of it all with those whos world has gotten much smaller… is a generous loving gift. The gift of time, the gift of conversation, the gift of respect, the gift of knowledge, of beauty, of laughter… it's all there. Bravo…Standing ovation.
