  2. Re the Thai house, I can tell you that the prices are going to vary greatly depending on a myriad of variables. If you are buying directly from an owner, you might do well. However, most of the time there are at least one (if not several) "layers" of "agents" who will add up to 50% to the costs (I've actually seen deals that were up to 150% added). I have purchased many properties/boats in SE Asia .. it's pretty much the same where ever you go. I once paid 4x the going price for a beach front property …. but that had been the first 6 months after my initial arrival.

  14. WOW guess I need to start making and selling small houseboats. hose The prices for those are NUTS. A couple pontoons a camper that is not required ro fit a truck bed. Stove fridge water heater tank and toilet + power source. A helm steering and throttle cable and hydro trim and a outboard. 30-50 k for not fancy to nice. 150 to 200 + k ? OR A nicer one for the cost of a nice home in a good location without the size or land to hold and increase its worth.

  28. solar and electric motors are the new norm. Anything with an ICE motor is over. That and the waste and waste water systems? How do they handle that? Hydroponic gardens make sense for the grey water, I didn't see any of those, only auto-rising, flat screen tv's. Lastly, too much plastic in the construction. The boats are new but are they modern? Material science is the new frontier, 3D printing and recycling, repurposing and building sustainably. That means no impact to the waterways that provide us with this paradise, to explore.

  29. The Lagoon is not a houseboat it is a Yacht. It has offshore capability as well but I would have to inspect it and do a little research before I would take it very far offshore. I think it is easily capable of going out far enough to transport it say from Florida to Texas or Southeast Florida to the mid atlantic states anyway if you prefer not to use the Intercoastal or just want a break for a leg of the journey. A lot of that area can be run via Intercoastal Waterway but in cases when protected waterways are not available it is classified as offshore capable Yacht. I would like any vessel do research on it and talk to the company if I were going to Deliver a new one to a customer but usually they have their own Delivery Captains who will spend a brief period with the buyers showing them how everything works. If not the Delivery Captain they have people who will do that from the Dealership or the builder.

  33. While the idea of house boats is appealing having owned an off shore yacht, I'm not sure how sea worthy one of these house boats would be if you had tried to sail one to a different water way…..which then means you are pretty much stuck in the same inland water way limiting the market when you go to sell and meaning you could get board just going around the same stretch of water all the time…

  47. 200k – 1m seems a bit steep for a house boat doesn't it? Hell you can get new brick homes for that and it'd be bigger.. Are boats really that expensive to make? Where's all the costs coming from? Those big ass diesel engines?
