  3. Years ago when I was a kid our family business was newspapers, we owned 2 Lear Jets. We had a 25 and a 35. The 25 was eventually replaced by a 55 and the 35 replaced by a 60 by the time I was in high school. They were so bad ass and amazing to travel in. Then the industry tanked due to the internet, and we sold everything to get the fuck out before it all caved in. It was fun to be a kid and see that stuff. The industry is a mere skeleton of what it was before the internet, newspapers are dying more and more everyday. I can't imagine how much all that shit cost to run. Glad I'll never know.

  24. On the 20-Series Lear, you neglect to mention the fact that they are so noisy that they are banned on many airports at this point, and the fact that 6000# of fuel will take you from Orlando to Dallas.

  40. For those who did not do their homework and bought one of these , just for the snob appeal of a jet, in 3? years, the operating cost will equal and exceed the initial purchase price. That Lear had to be old enough to vote, with a panel filled with steam gauges, and if it had no ADSB, will be unflyable after this year, at least in the US. (There goes a $mil+ for avionic upgrades alone)For all around lower cost and utility, I prefer a turbo prop.Some of them are almost as fast or even faster than the jets and with better range.For something as old as the Lear, it is not just the performance, it is the handling, modern wing designs make beheavior near the coffin corner much more forgiving than the old ones, and maintenance cost are lower.There is a reason why small jets are not practical, and soon, they will have to give them away.I am less concern about the age, since DC3s are still in daily commercial service, but it is not pressurized and turboed.
