Sailing Yacht

I just purchased a Low-cost catamaran SAILBOAT and prepare to move it up the ICW with NO Knowledge – three

I observed this 1976 Sailcraft Iroquois MKii catamaran for sale on craigslist and we go down to North Carolina to prepare it to motor up the ICW to a marina in Virginia. We have no boating experience but are completely ready for the journey!

  9. Hi, you might be able to install slide up style rudders where the original rudders were mounted. You would need to cut V openings in the sugar scoops so the rudders could swing side to side.

  10. Guys You can get better project boats for free. Fix the leaky cabin roof and decks then make a nice bed and use it as a floating tent for camping on weekends and you will have an insane amount of fun pottering around the river once you get that outboard fixed. Please forget trying to get her back to sailing / cruising conditions, she doesn't have the potential to make all the time and money worthwhile.

  11. To end with a happy result in this project you just need GIM. That's – Gas – Insurance – Match. Simple

  19. She’s so similar to our first boat – Kittiwake. We sailed her from the UK to the Mediterranean, so they’re solid little boats once they’re made seaworthy 😊👍 We had no experience when we set off, so don’t worry – people learn fast.
We can’t wait to watch the refit and see her transform.
PS you may want to use a proper wind app, like Windy, to check the weather 👍

  27. Buy boat, you may want to learn some things first; outfit boat, the learning continues; commence voyage. The order in which these are engaged is not optional. Doing the bulk of the learning in the final stage is to ensure an awful experience.

  29. Don't listen to these people, most of them are up to their eyeballs in debt on their trucks, houses, and boats. Another hiccup in the economy and they will be on the bottom. Live on it, work on it, and soon it will be a nice little coastal cruiser. Yes, safety is job #1. You need to be alive at the end of the day, so life jackets, tie-offs -people can and do fall over board, nav lights, and a anchor that will keep you in place. Then standing and running rigging. Find rudders that will fit that cat and docking it will be as easy as parking your car. Don't let these people shit on your dreams or what you see on the canvas before it's painted.
