  2. On my first ship in the navy there was a time when we were worked 15 or more hours a day and still had to stand watch. Each watch period is 4 hours and broke down to an hour on the helm, lee helm messenger or one of the four look out spots both bridge wings, top deck and fantail. So came my turn to go on watch (0000-0400) and I was the helmsman, given the course and other info and took over the helm. Next thing I knew it was rotation and an hour had passed fast. I had fallen asleep at the helm standing up with eyes open and had stayed on course. Never figured that one out because when I told a close friend that was on watch with me, he told me that I replied to course changes, answered questions, moved the helm to keep on course.

I think it was a "pre shutdown" from work. The chief would get us up at 0500 to start working and work us till 2300. It was a few days later that I got off watch and went to the head before hitting the rack. Unzip pants and that was it. Next thing I know I wake up on the deck with the guys standing over me. Brain decided it had enough and just shut down. But that made me the envy of the division and made chief very mad because I got 3 days bed rest.

  3. When the boat is on the hard does your boss pay for accomodation for the crew or is it considered "time away?"

  8. Glad you're getting sponsors for your channel. You put in a lot of effort for us subscribers in addition to captain the vessel. I hope more companies jump on board (see what I did there)

  15. Hi Tristan. Great tour. Essential back up alarm for bridge watch when captain at rest. I'd have converted it to a double and totally soundproofed.

  16. So many adverts. You are a successful captain with a great you tube channel yet you are asking for more? I don't understand your motives anymore unfortunately.

  17. Tony & Susan here, Again we are discussing your relation ship . Since you are her superior have you a legal agreement incase things don't work out and you are possibly in a legal confrontation?

  20. Surprised they didn't design it the other way around, with the shower & head at the aft end, would have soaked up a bit of noise. Looks like there would have been room in front of the stairs for a door too.

  21. It makes no sense that you will not sleep in the captains cabin, due to the first officer….Are you the captain or not? If you are. Give the first officer a room to himself.

  26. I would have thought the Captain's Cabin would have had smaller repeater navigational
instruments by his bunk so the Captain can see the status of his ship at a glance,

  30. As always Tristan you do a great job. I would say most Italian boat builders do not qualify as experts in catering for Capt., and crew. Go take a look at Gulf Craft and Ocean Alexander and many of the other builders.
You guys deserve better, but that is my opinion.

  34. Thanks for the tour? I notice no telephone in the cabin. Is all the crew to crew communications done by radio(walkie talkie)? Still very interested in the your Captains Standing Orders and uniforms. Thanks.

  37. Not a wide bed, as you observe; but not a long bed either. Time off and time private time must be difficult on board during extending cruising. Can you share any tips for dealing with those issues?

  40. It might sound funny but does it take you some time to get used of solid grounds after spending so much time on water and same when season begin and you sleep with the little wobbling of the Yacht ? It's a question I always ask myself so why not ask you since you live it. Thanks for all the great informative video you share
