Our close friend Michael comes to take a look at to aid us on our first sail in our Hunter 34! Just after shelling out the wintertime refitting the boat, and limitless tasks later on, we ultimately get to elevate the sails! In this video, we head to Chester NS and encounter a ton of what cruising has to offer you in this kind of a quick vacation: fog, solar, swells, seasickness, motor issues, laughter, and enjoyment.

  1. What the fog is going on, lord I hate that stuff, especially if I’m out at sea. A good radar unit is well worth the cost, one that has a warning system that will sound off if your solo and asleep.

  12. Came for the refit stayed for the sailing. So glad to see some more northern channels! We were on Cape Breton Island last year in September and were blown away by the beauty. All I could think about was “wow, I’d like to sail that.” Keep on keepin’ on!

  13. So here’s a surefire way to cure motion sickness when on a boat. Shut the motor off and drift. Then jump over the side and swim. Twenty minutes should be enough to do the trick. Enjoy!

  15. Dont listen to these hunter bashers. Same as the dock master who told me a hunter couldn't go offshore. Proved him wrong. Took my 28.5 out in 30 knots and 6-8 footers. Went a few miles offshore and returned with no problems. You'll have a great time cruising her!

  17. Why did you guys pick a Hunter? Didn't the flimsy construction of the hull bother you? Didn't you want a blue water boat?

  22. If you're sailing alone, does the autopilot sail for your while you sleep or do you need to stop the boat's movement while you're sleeping and anchor?

  25. 3:45 it looks like your forestay is blowing in the breeze. Might want to check your rigging out and see if its properly tensioned. Cheers from the left coast.

  26. I had the issue with Open CPN on my Android phone where it would read twice as fast in knots. A phone setting of "high accuracy" of the GPS was necessary to correct this.

  33. I enjoy your videos as much as those of Christian Williams, whose videos help me sleep (compliment). You are a more normal version of his poetry. You mention being inspired, yourselves, by SV Delos: I think you're better and much more down to earth. Thank you for that, and thank you for sharing your videos. You are, if nothing else, a relaxing and adventurous glimpse into a reachable dream. Keep sailing and keep posting.
