  4. Funny seeing everyone hating A, personally i dont particularly like the design but i also dont hate it. Its a cool yacht, its different. If u have the money then why not, be different. I mean most yachts looks basically more or less the same, a non boat person could easily mistake one yacht for another, but there is no mistaking the A yacht. People really need to open their minds rather than hating and judging everything.

  5. Reminds me of an old pirate ship. Is it a technological marvel as a sailing vessel like Black Pearl or a dud?

  6. The first 999 times I saw SY A in photos and video, I thought it looked awful. ON the thousandth time, it clicked with me. It's the sailing form of an artful sculpture and now it's arguably my favorite design.

I never did like MY A though.

  10. Without the waves Jason wouldn't reach the top glass and excellent docking Capt.
But with respect if you hadn't been going so fast, you all wouldn't of had to come in fer winder cleaner to get ze bugs off your" glass.
Any way it was a marvelous display of speed whilst keeping the shiney side up and the barnicle side down.
Just sucks that now I'm assuming the thrusters are clogged with water bugs.
Some times that need for speed is a real bitch.🤠

  12. Well done backin' her in, sir. You're not too out of practice, despite having a bow thruster to use most of the time. 😉 And I'm with all the others, having a bad taste in my mouth after seeing the A sailing yacht. That's a boat only someone like architect Antoni Gaudi or painter Mark Rothko could love.

  13. After 30 years 'afore the mast' racing as a bowman on 30 – 55ft yachts, I am a huge fan of classic yachts such as the 'J' Class and I have difficulty associating Yacht A as a 'yacht' – however, if she can raise sail AND use it as a sole means of propulsion – then good on her. She may look ugly but beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and in these days of 'green' energy anything that saves using fossil fuel can only be good. To be blatantly honest though, if I owned her, I am not sure that I would admit it to anybody!

  14. Not a big fan of the "A". My first thought after looking at it was how dark the interior must be with the lack of windows and such. Also, the proportions seem wrong. Perhaps it's a fantastic ship, but it seems to lack… grace.

I'm curious why you docked without the bow thrusters, though (though I admire the skill in doing so!). I admit that I rarely use the bow thrusters on the boats that I skipper, but they're generally in the 40-50 foot range, so a whole lot easier – and the 50 is a catamaran, so pretty widely spaced diesels gives me all the torque I need to orient it pretty easily.

  15. The sailing vessel has some interesting features, but over all it's quite plain and boring looking on the outside.

  16. The inside must be mind blowing on the amount of room it has Not going to lie I'd like to stay in it for a week or two.

  27. Sailing Yacht A……Hmmm, that’s tough. It looks “weird” yet cool at the same time. It looks EXTREMELY high tech yet, at the same time, has an unfinished look to it. If it were a motor yacht I’d like it more because sailing has never been my thing. I’d rather have the AWOL 😉 for sure. That’s a no-brainer.
Edit: Docking a super yacht that big w/out bow thrusters……AMAZING!!!

  32. Somebody explain to me how one Russian accumulates so much money in a communist nation? So he must have more money than Trump can get on his hands in the USA. Anybody else see anything wrong with this picture?

  36. I actually like sailing yacht A. It looks like some sort of evil spaceship.

  37. Yacht A seems soulless. By the way do guests ever use the sundeck in front of the bridge on AWOL? It seems to me it lacks privacy as it is directly overlooked. Could there not be screening when boat is moored?

  45. Out of interest, why did you dock without the bow thrusters? Was it just to practice your skills or was there a malfunction? Sorry if I missed the explanation in the vid

  46. Please feel free to laugh and mock, but I always wandered what those poles were on the bow. Now I know 😆
Btw, a captain who’s not too precious to get stuck in and help with the mundane tasks; that’s where the respect of the crew is earned. Doff of the hat to you sir. 🎩
