1984 Gemini 3000 Catamaran – Full Boat Tour (Episode 0??? Sailing 9 LIVES)

Duke and Virginia tour a 1984 Gemini 3000 sailing catamaran with their boat broker, Captain Bob Hatala. This is most of the video footage taken during the initial assessment, prior to the survey.

This video was going to be a Patron-Only post, but since we still don’t have any patrons… well, it has become a public video. Thank you!

Episode 1 of Sailing 9 LIVES will be published next week, including some edited content from this Extra video, but with a lot more commentary and (hopefully) some STYLE! Until then, enjoy!

  3. Hey Duke, new subscriber here , was wondering your opinion on the outboard set up on the Gemini versus an inboard when cruising or just putting around ?
I am trying to narrow my choices in hunting for a catamaran 30 to 37,' thank you .

  4. Would you suggest one of these Gemini boats to someone who has never sailed before? Could one person handle say to cruise the Bahamas?

  5. Worst video for a boat, makes one fill dizzy, and can't get an idea of how much room there is. I would fill claustrophobic in it. It needs a lot repairs and maintenance, a lot of wood. Would need a big outboard to overcome head winds in canal. No trampoline which is a safety issue.

  6. The fellow looking over this legacy Gemini seems to know little about them, including the common, minor types of issues he points out as items of concern. That Gemini is in excellent shape for her age, in regard to the parts I observed. I used to own one of these in the mid 1990's, and cruised full-time aboard her with my family for a year.

I enjoyed the video tour. Thank you for making it!

  16. I think Virginia needs to "come on board" to come to terms with sailing reality.

    Heads are cranped
Showers are cramped but the sea is close by for washing
    Beds are cramped
    Water needs rationing
    Wind gets in your hair
You're gonna get wet now and then
    Kitchen facilities are sparse
Electricity is only abundant when you are not using the boat for its intended purpose

funnily enough, some of us find these to be part of the attraction of a cruising sailboat.

Virginia, unearth your inner adventurer! 🙂
