Davis Island Yacht Club, which went by the name Tampa Sailing Squadron until 1941, is a well-known regatta host in Tampa, Fl. But from a news clipping in 1937, the club knew how to party too:
Sailing Squadron Plans Another Yacht Party
The Tampa Sailing Squadron will have another party down the bay Sunday, like the one they had several weeks ago (or hope it will be like that one – they all agree it couldn’t be much better).
There will be some new faces present – some of those who were unable to go on the last party. And some of those present the last time will be missing. But all in all, it expected to be a very enjoyable affair.
At first the squadron entertainment committee thought it ought to wait until the members had stopped talking about the last one before they had another, but it finally became evident that they never would stop talking about it until they had something else to talk about, so they decided to hold another party so the gang would talk about something else for a change.
